If you can’t relate tea with sea, sand and sky it’s because you can only think of your granny or because you were missing this post (I bet on this one). So read it carefully and take note on where to have beautiful tea sessions surrounded by the best nature has to offer you without charging for it. Here’s the top 3 of five star hotels offering deluxe tea afternoon versions at a fair price.
Tea Lounge by The Oitavos Hotel
Sea, sand and sky are the exact three things you’ll be surrounded by in case you chose this option. Tea is obviously the fourth perspective you’ll find.
A minimalist design, artistic flow, imperceptible luxury and fifty shades of blue will welcome you right at the hotel entrance, setting the mood for your experience.
The Tea Lounge (15,00€ for two) includes scones, egg custard tarts, brownies, tartlets, ham & cheese finger toast, all served with homemade jams, butter, honey as well as tea, milk, chocolate or coffee to drink. More than I could ask that puts this tea right in my favorites’ list on the Coast. Price wise is definitely unbeatable since both quality and quantity sing in perfect harmony.
Don’t miss: Having your tea lounge served outside, with the sea and sky in the horizon.
Hot tip: Ask for the wifi password and share your pictures on Instagram using the #TrenDestination and #oitavoslife (their official hashtag).

Tea Addiction by Farol Design Hotel
I’m a big fan of boutique hotels, especially with a design touch, set in strategic locations. This suggestion is fantastic if you’re in the mood to listen the sea waves crashing (who’s not?) – for some reason the bar name is On the Rocks – and if you’re hungry since both the ocean view and sweets included are endless.
For 19,50€ (for two), the Tea Addiction offers perfectly golden scones, finger sandwiches, cookies, mini cakes and fruit pies – being served between 4:00pm and 6:30pm. This is perfect if you had a light lunch and specially if you’re planning to skip dinner. Otherwise, it might too much on your plate – literally. In case you get overloaded with the amount of petit-fours, ask for a doggy bag – don’t be shy.
Don’t miss: Counting the number of spread art pieces throughout the hotel – in and out. I can tell some of them meet the ugly-pretty term perfectly.
Hot tip: Reservations are more than recommended and ask for the window seat in the non-smokers room.

Tea Light by Cascais Miragem Hotel
The decor and ambiance of this hotel combines pure elegance with a current look. It has a pretty impressive lobby and the restaurants / bar are located on the last floor with an impeccable view over the sea.
Despite being the simplest tea experiences of all the 3, what I do fancy most? No schedule at all, the view, the variety of tea experiences, the possibility of going by yourself as it can be served for only 1 person and the pleasant and customer-focus staff. So for all these, cheers to this hotel!
As I said, they have on the menu 5 different types of tea experiences starting with the simplest Creamy Tea at 7,50€ (for 1 person) including tea, homemade pumpkin jam, mascarpone, butter, 2 scones and a fruit skewer to the highest – Miragem Tea – costing 14,50€ with all the above (except the fruit skewer although you can ask for it) plus chocolate cake and finger sandwiches. However, my suggestion go for the Tea Light which has low-fat cheese scones and green tea cake (as well as jam, mascarpone and butter). Sorry, but I only have pictures of the Creamy Tea.
Don’t miss: Obviously sitting outside in case of bad weather with only the sea in your horizon.
Hot tip: In the mood for a tea with scones at 11:00am or 9:00pm? This is the place.
